Engagé au tournoi de Bastad après sa défaite au deuxième tour de Wimbledon face à Roger Federer, Richard Gasquet dit déjà au revoir à la Suède. Opposé au terrien Marco Cecchinato, le Biterrois a mal démarré en concédant la première manche 6 jeux à 2. Mal embarqué dans la deuxième puisque breaké d’entrée, Gasquet a renversé la vapeur pour l’empocher 7-5. Mais finalement, il n’a pas tenu la distance et s’incline 6-3 dans le dernier set. Deux autres matchs étaient programmés ce lundi. Elias Ymer est venu à bout de Taro Daniel en 2h22 (6-2/6-7(6)/6-4) tandis que Yannick Hanfmann a facilement battu le Brésilien Thiago Monteiro 7-5/6-2.
